How to Connect PeaSoup S3 to QNAP Hybrid Backup Sync

Follow these steps to back up your QNAP NAS data to PeaSoup S3 using Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS 3). Since PeaSoup uses an S3-compatible API, it can be configured similarly to Amazon S3.

Prerequisites

  • PeaSoup S3 Access: Ensure you have the following information:
    • Access key
    • Secret key
    • Bucket name
    • PeaSoup S3 endpoint URL https://s3.eu-west-1.peasoup.cloud
  • Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS 3): Make sure that HBS 3 is installed on your QNAP NAS.

Steps to Connect PeaSoup S3 to QNAP Hybrid Backup Sync

  1. Open Hybrid Backup Sync on your QNAP NAS:
    • Go to the main menu and open Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS 3).
  2. Create a New Backup Job:
    • Click on Backup > Backup Now and choose Backup to Cloud as the destination.
  3. Select S3 Compatible Storage:
    • From the list of cloud providers, select S3 Compatible storage.
  4. Configure the PeaSoup S3 Connection:
    • Service Provider: Select Custom.
    • Server Address: Enter the PeaSoup S3 endpoint https://s3.eu-west-1.peasoup.cloud.
    • Access Key: Enter your PeaSoup S3 access key.
    • Secret Key: Enter your PeaSoup S3 secret key.
    • Bucket Name: Select or enter the PeaSoup S3 bucket where you want to back up your data.
  5. Advanced Settings (Optional):
    • Region: If required by PeaSoup, enter the region. Otherwise, leave it blank.
    • Folder: If needed, specify a folder within the PeaSoup S3 bucket where backups will be stored.
  6. Select Backup Data:
    • Choose the data or folders from your QNAP NAS that you want to back up to PeaSoup S3.
  7. Configure Backup Schedule and Options:
    • Set up your backup schedule (e.g., real-time, scheduled backup) and retention policies.
  8. Complete the Backup Setup:
    • Once everything is configured, click Create to save the backup job.
  9. Run the Backup Job:
    • Run the backup task manually or wait for the scheduled time to confirm that the backup to PeaSoup S3 works correctly.

Notes

  • Ensure PeaSoup S3 is S3-compatible and the endpoint is reachable from your QNAP NAS.
  • Verify that network permissions, firewalls, or security groups allow access to PeaSoup S3 from your NAS.
