How to Connect PeaSoup S3 to Cohesity

Follow these steps to configure Cohesity to store backups on PeaSoup S3. Since PeaSoup provides an S3-compatible API, it can be used as an external target for cloud tiering or as a backup repository similar to Amazon S3.

Prerequisites

  • PeaSoup S3 Access: Ensure you have the following details:
    • Access key
    • Secret key
    • Bucket name
    • PeaSoup S3 endpoint URL https://s3.eu-west-1.peasoup.cloud
  • Cohesity cluster running, properly licensed for cloud integration.

Steps to Connect PeaSoup S3 to Cohesity

  1. Log into Cohesity Helios or Cohesity DataProtect:
    • Open the Cohesity platform and log in using your administrator credentials.
  2. Navigate to External Target Settings:
    • In the Cohesity dashboard, go to Protection > External Target.
    • Click Add External Target to start the process of adding a new storage target.
  3. Select Cloud Archive and S3-Compatible as Storage Type:
    • Choose Cloud Archive as the target type, and select S3-Compatible from the list of available storage types.
  4. Configure PeaSoup S3 as the External Target:
    • Name: Enter a name for this storage target (e.g., “PeaSoup S3”).
    • Access Key: Enter your PeaSoup S3 access key.
    • Secret Key: Enter your PeaSoup S3 secret key.
    • Endpoint URL: Enter the PeaSoup S3 endpoint https://s3.eu-west-1.peasoup.cloud
    • Bucket Name: Enter the PeaSoup S3 bucket name where the backups will be stored.
    • Region: Specify the region if required by PeaSoup, or leave it blank if not necessary.
  5. Test the Connection:
    • Once you have entered the credentials, click Test Connection to ensure that the Cohesity platform can successfully connect to PeaSoup S3.
  6. Set Retention and Tiering Policies:
    • After PeaSoup S3 is set up as an external target, you can configure policies for archiving or tiering data to PeaSoup for long-term storage.
    • Navigate to Protection Policies and create or edit an existing policy to use PeaSoup S3 for archival or tiering purposes.
  7. Run and Monitor Backup Jobs:
    • Once the backup policy is configured, initiate a backup job and verify that data is being transferred to PeaSoup S3 as per the configured policies.
    • Monitor the backup progress in the Cohesity dashboard.

Notes

  • Ensure that PeaSoup S3 is accessible from your Cohesity cluster. Verify network settings and any firewall rules to ensure proper communication.
  • Cohesity supports S3-compatible object storage, making PeaSoup S3 easy to integrate for cloud archive and backup workflows.
