How to Connect PeaSoup S3 to Drobo NAS Cloud Backup

Follow these steps to configure your Drobo NAS to back up data to PeaSoup S3 using its cloud backup feature. Since PeaSoup uses an S3-compatible API, it can be configured similarly to Amazon S3 as a backup destination.

Prerequisites

  • PeaSoup S3 Access: Ensure you have the following details:
    • Access key
    • Secret key
    • Bucket name
    • PeaSoup S3 endpoint URL https://s3.eu-west-1.peasoup.cloud
  • Drobo NAS with cloud backup functionality enabled and updated firmware.

Steps to Connect PeaSoup S3 to Drobo NAS Cloud Backup

  1. Log into Drobo Dashboard:
    • Access the Drobo Dashboard by launching the Drobo Dashboard app on your PC or Mac.
    • Select your Drobo NAS from the device list and log in with your admin credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Cloud Backup Settings:
    • In the Drobo Dashboard, navigate to the Backup section and click on Cloud Backup.
  3. Create a New Cloud Backup Job:
    • Click on Create Backup or Add Job to start a new cloud backup task.
    • Select S3-Compatible Storage as the cloud backup destination.
  4. Configure PeaSoup S3 as the Backup Destination:
    • Service Type: Select Custom S3-Compatible.
    • Access Key: Enter your PeaSoup S3 access key.
    • Secret Key: Enter your PeaSoup S3 secret key.
    • Bucket Name: Enter the name of the PeaSoup S3 bucket where you want to store your backups.
    • Endpoint: Enter the PeaSoup S3 endpoint https://s3.eu-west-1.peasoup.cloud
    • Region: If required by PeaSoup, specify the region, or leave it blank if not needed.
  5. Select Data to Back Up:
    • Choose the files or folders from your Drobo NAS that you want to back up to PeaSoup S3.
  6. Configure Backup Schedule:
    • Set up the backup schedule (e.g., daily, weekly, real-time) based on your data protection needs.
    • Configure any additional options, such as encryption, bandwidth control, or retention policies if required.
  7. Complete and Run the Backup Job:
    • Click Save or Apply to finalize the backup task configuration.
    • You can either run the backup immediately or wait for the scheduled time.
    • Monitor the backup status from the Drobo Dashboard to ensure the data is being uploaded to PeaSoup S3 successfully.

Notes

  • Ensure that PeaSoup S3 is accessible from your Drobo NAS by verifying network settings and any firewall rules that may affect connectivity.
  • Drobo’s cloud backup feature supports S3-compatible storage, so PeaSoup integration should be straightforward.
