How to Connect PeaSoup S3 to Druva Phoenix

Follow these steps to configure Druva Phoenix to store backups on PeaSoup S3. PeaSoup provides an S3-compatible API, making it easy to configure as an external storage target for cloud backups within Druva Phoenix.

Prerequisites

  • PeaSoup S3 Access: Ensure you have the following details:
    • Access key
    • Secret key
    • Bucket name
    • PeaSoup S3 endpoint URL https://s3.eu-west-1.peasoup.cloud
  • Druva Phoenix configured with appropriate licenses for cloud backup.
  • Administrator access to your Druva Phoenix environment.

Steps to Connect PeaSoup S3 to Druva Phoenix

  1. Log into Druva Phoenix Console:
  2. Go to Cloud Settings:
    • From the dashboard, navigate to Manage > Cloud settings.
    • Here you will configure PeaSoup S3 as an external cloud storage destination.
  3. Configure PeaSoup S3 as Cloud Storage:
    • Click Add Cloud Storage to configure a new storage provider.
    • Select S3-Compatible as the cloud storage type.
    • Enter the following PeaSoup S3 details:
      • Storage Name: Name your cloud storage target (e.g., PeaSoup S3).
      • Access Key: Enter your PeaSoup S3 access key.
      • Secret Key: Enter your PeaSoup S3 secret key.
      • Bucket Name: Enter the name of your PeaSoup S3 bucket.
      • Endpoint URL: Enter the PeaSoup S3 endpoint https://s3.eu-west-1.peasoup.cloud
      • Region: Leave blank unless PeaSoup specifies a region.
    • Click Save to complete the configuration.
  4. Test the Cloud Storage Connection:
    • After saving the settings, test the connection to ensure Druva Phoenix can communicate with PeaSoup S3.
    • If successful, PeaSoup S3 will now be available as a cloud storage target for your backups.
  5. Configure Backup Policies:
    • Navigate to Manage > Backup Policies to create or modify a backup policy to use PeaSoup S3 for cloud backups.
    • Select PeaSoup S3 as the target cloud storage location in the policy settings.
    • Define the backup schedule, retention policies, and data types to be backed up (e.g., VMs, databases, file servers).
    • Click Save to apply the backup policy.
  6. Run Backup Jobs:
    • Once the policy is configured, initiate a backup job manually or wait for the scheduled time.
    • Monitor the backup progress in the Druva Phoenix dashboard to ensure data is being successfully stored in PeaSoup S3.
  7. Restore from PeaSoup S3:
    • If needed, navigate to the Restore section in Druva Phoenix.
    • Choose the backup stored in PeaSoup S3 and follow the restoration process to recover your data to the original or a new location.

Optional: Set Up Retention Policies

  • Configure retention policies for the data stored in PeaSoup S3 by setting rules in Druva Phoenix for how long backup data should be retained before being archived or deleted. This helps in managing long-term storage costs.

  • Ensure that Druva Phoenix can access PeaSoup S3 by verifying network connectivity and firewall settings.
