Veeam Cloud Connect v13 Compatibility Update – What You Need to Know
Veeam has introduced a major compatibility change in Veeam Backup & Replication v13, and it directly affects how customer systems connect to service provider Cloud Connect platforms such as PeaSoup. This update is an important step in strengthening security and modernising Cloud Connect protocol handling — but it also means customers must be on a supported version to maintain connectivity.
In this blog, we break down what has changed, why the change matters, and what you need to do to stay compatible.
What Has Changed?
With the release of Veeam v13, Veeam now enforces strict version alignment between customer environments and the Cloud Connect platform they connect to. The long-standing rule remains: the Cloud Connect platform must run the same or newer major version than the customer system — but now with additional restrictions.
Key Changes
Customers on Veeam v13 cannot connect to Cloud Connect platforms running v12.x.
Once PeaSoup upgrades to v13, only the following versions will be supported:
Veeam 12.3.2 (build 12.3.2.3617 or later)
Veeam 13.0.1 or later
All earlier 12.x releases (12.0 through 12.3.1) will be blocked automatically by Veeam.
Why This Is Happening
Veeam v13 introduces new security hardening measures and updated Cloud Connect protocol requirements. Versions 12.0 to 12.3.1 contain security vulnerabilities that are only fully resolved in 12.3.2.
Because of this, Veeam now prevents older 12.x builds from connecting to a v13 Cloud Connect platform.
These restrictions are controlled entirely by Veeam software — service providers cannot override them.
What Customers Need to Do
To ensure continued connectivity to PeaSoup Cloud Connect once we upgrade to v13, customers must be running:
Veeam 12.3.2.3617 or later, or
Veeam 13.0.1 or later
Earlier 12.x versions will lose Cloud Connect compatibility as soon as our platform transitions to v13.
If you are unsure which version you are running, or need assistance planning or performing your upgrade, our support team is ready to help.
Why 12.3.2 Is the Minimum Supported 12.x Version
Veeam has designated 12.3.2 as the only secure and compatible 12.x release because it includes:
Updated Cloud Connect protocol components required by v13
Security patches missing from earlier 12.x builds
Removal of legacy compatibility paths used by older versions
This ensures a safe and reliable connection to Cloud Connect service providers.
Summary
Veeam v13 requires service providers to run v13 for compatibility.
Once PeaSoup Cloud upgrades, we can only support customers on 12.3.2+ or v13.
Older 12.x versions will be blocked due to Veeam’s enforced security protocols.
We will share our upgrade schedule separately. If you’d like help preparing your environment, our team is here to assist.
